So this episode is a Looooooooooooooooong winded way of explaining the setting, and frankly, I love it.
The tale of friendship, intensive studies, and murder await viewers of this certain anime, a most r-r-r-ridiculous anime.
Okay do I or don’t I like gag anime. This isn’t so much gag, its… ridiculous, its… *weird arm flails to explain* its so over the top, kinda like Kill la Kill. Kill la kill wasn’t gag, but it was ridiculous. Cheating Craft is ridiculous-ly awesome.
The animation looks like it would be a high budget anime, like the shading and details of the main characters is beautiful, it looks like a hardcore action anime, but there’s no talking. Its all narration. The relationship between these characters is built solely on their glances and the narration.
It’s a bit reminiscent of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, just because there is fighting during a test. They have to make it out of this test by any means alive, and the list of cheating tools, and when a mechanical pencil is used as a tranquilizer gun.. Or pressure point gun.. Its all very entertaining.
Essentially there are 2 types of students, the L type who do the actual learning, and then there’s the C Type, who cheat. Its explained that they often pair up, the C protects the L and the L lets the C copy their answers. Sort of like Healers and other warriors.
The episode ends with the ‘new generation’ of test takers. We don’t know much about them. And I don’t know if the entire season will take place in this one test. It certainly is ramping up to it, and with the shorter episodes, 15 minutes, it may be a feasible plan, for maybe a couple episodes. The whole 12 episodes? Probably not.
I liked it. I wanna watch more!
Its not a waste of 15 minutes, id recommend it to almost anyone. It is probably funnier in japan because of the importance put on education, this anime represents a Japanese parents mindset when it comes to their child’s education. That’s just my guess, its funny though, so if you’ve seen it, let me know below and what you thought of it!!
